We came to Crete in October 2003 and at once fell in love with the charming countryside and the relaxed lifestyle.  This inspired us to seek a luxurious hideaway in the countryside. 

Luck was on our side as we found this amazing tranquil location overlooking a beautiful valley on the outskirts of the old  village of Gavalochori, near the beautiful and safe seaside beaches of Almirida (a lovely sandy Blue Flag beach in a sheltered bay) and Kalives.

The White Mountains (Lefka Ori) provide a spectacular back-drop.  We decided to have two villas designed and built - Villa Ariadne as a luxurious Greek villa for holiday rental and Villa Phaedra next door for ourselves to live in full time (as we have turned our backs on the frenetic pace of UK life).  We will therefore usually be on hand for friendly advice, if required, but will otherwise leave guests to enjoy their stay in peace and quiet and without intrusion.

The breathtaking scenery and the fabulous clear star-filled skies will make your Greek Holiday in Crete one to remember. All three double bedrooms are luxuriously furnished with flowing voile curtains, duvets and two pillows per person.   There is a bathroom on each floor- one with a bath and the other a shower. The Italian designer kitchen has  includes a fridge freezer,full electric cooker, microwave, toaster,coffee maker and kettle.  The living room has been furnished in a contemporary style and includes a three seater leather settee complemented with a two seater hand crafted fabric sofa imported from the UK. A Cretan pine coffee table,colourful rug and accent lighting complete the picture.  A colour TV - Satellite , DVD/CD Player and  are provided. The balconies are furnished with tables and chairs. The perfect place to enjoy an evening drink whilst feasting on the magnificent sunsets over the White Mountains and the hill top village of Douliana.

Gavalochori is a quiet typical charming Greek village an 8 minute walk from the villa. There you will find tavernas, shops and a bakery. The unspoiled beaches of Almirida and Kalives are a mere 5 km drive.  Close by is Vamos, the regional centre, and also the wide glorious swathe of golden sands at Georgioupolis.  A half hour drive from Chania International Airport will bring you straight to our haven.
